Vi at Grayhawk Residents' Foundation Scholarship Program

Vi at Grayhawk Residents’ Foundation (ViGRF) is a public charity, funded by residents of Vi at Grayhawk (Foundation Members). Members elect a board of directors who govern and operate the Foundation consistent with IRS requirements for maintaining Section 501(c) 3 tax exempt status.

ViGRF’s primary focus is to provide scholarships for post-secondary education for qualified employees of Vi at Grayhawk and their eligible dependents. Since its incorporation in 2003, ViGRF has funded over 600 scholarships to 206 students with $2.5M.

The scholarship awards are funded annually on an academic year cycle (Fall, Spring, and Summer). The scholarship application process entails two steps and begins every April. All employees receive a letter by postal mail offering the opportunity to determine his/her eligibility for a scholarship. Following this notification, all subsequent communication and applications will be managed through this digital management website.

Application Process

This first step is the completion of an Eligibility Application that is submitted to the Vi at Grayhawk Human Resources Department (HR) for review. If the eligibility criteria are met, the applicant will receive a Scholarship Application from Vi at Grayhawk Residents’ Foundation (ViGRF).  The earlier the student submits this first step, the sooner he/she may receive approval and be permitted to begin the second step, the Scholarship Application.

Once the applicant’s receives notice of eligibility approval, he/she may begin the second step, completion of the Scholarship Application. This includes six requirements:

  1. Complete the online Scholarship Application.
  2. Upload Transcripts from the most recently attended educational institution.
  3. Upload Fall class registration with tuition and fees and estimated spring class hours.
  4. Upload a personal essay of approximately 500 words with information that helps the Committee assess your personal strengths, academic abilities, and life goals. Your essay must demonstrate your ability to think logically and express yourself clearly.
  5. Provide the email address of a teacher, academic advisor, or other professional who will write and upload a letter of recommendation with information about your academic skills, abilities and achievements and how those impact your ability to carry out the program of study you wish to pursue. Make sure you contact and receive approval from the recommender in advance so they are aware this request is coming from you.
  6. Upload a head shot photo.

Details of these are further explained in the application.

Once all of the required elements of the Scholarship Application have been fully met, the applicant must submit the application as FINAL. You will not be allowed to finalize an incomplete application. Incomplete applications will render you ineligible for a scholarship.

Upon receiving a final application, you will be notified of its receipt and a Scholarship Committee member will be in contact with you for a mandatory in-person interview with the Scholarship Committee.

Following a successful interview and completed application, the applicant will be notified of the status of his/her award.
